Homeless abandoned to death in the snow freezing Greece

Posted by moodhacker on January 10, 2017 at 9:40 AM

The Shocking picture of a Greek homeless who slept on the beach at Paleo Faliro region , close to Athens Downtown and chose the side next to the sea to escape the snowball, but woke up covered with snow. Indeed, he survived the conditions and the cold for the last 24 hours, nobody can guarantee his luck on these moments speaking, since nobody is in charge of the homeless population in Greece. The photo is real and was taken Tuesday, January 10, morning at 9.00, as posted by the credible journalist Giannis Papagiannis on facebook

Metro Stations will stay open overnight for the homeless, governement said

As was announced Monday night, while the snow had covered the downtown Athens in alarming way, that set Greece's authorities on emergency, three metro stations in the capital, Omonoia, Monastiraki and Metaxorgeio , will remain open during the night and until Friday, January 13, to protect the homeless from the freezing temperatures that are expected in the coming days, the ministry of infrastructure said on Tuesday.

Greece has been gripped by a cold spell since last week with snowfall continuing in many parts of the country, including Athens’ northern suburbs. Omonia, Monastiraki and Metaxourgio will welcome vulnerable citizens.

A new ministry decision is expected next week depending on the weather conditions of the time.
